The education minister Unveils SWAYAM Plus: A Learning Platform for Upskilling and Lifelong Learning

In a move to empower individuals with in-demand skills and foster a culture of lifelong learning, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launched the SWAYAM Plus platform. This comprehensive online course initiative addresses the growing need for upskilling and professional development across various sectors.

SWAYAM Plus differentiates itself from its predecessor, SWAYAM-NPTEL, by offering industry-focused courses developed in collaboration with leading companies like L&T, Microsoft, and Cisco. This ensures the curriculum aligns with current industry needs, equipping learners with practical and relevant skills sought after by employers.

Catering to a diverse audience, the platform offers online courses in various languages, utilises AI-powered learning for personalised experiences, and enables credit recognition for completed courses, potentially opening doors to further education or professional certifications. Additionally, SWAYAM Plus aims to bridge the gap between learning and employment by connecting learners with potential job opportunities.

Speaking at the launch, Education Minister Pradhan emphasised the platform's alignment with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020: "SWAYAM Plus empowers individuals to upskill and reskill, contributing to India's knowledge economy and fostering a workforce with future-ready skills."

IIT Madras will manage SWAYAM Plus, leveraging their expertise from the successful SWAYAM-NPTEL program. This new platform signifies a significant step towards making accessible, affordable, and industry-relevant education a reality for all Indians, regardless of age or background.
