The National Medical Commission warns against misleading Information on new medical colleges and seat increases.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a public notice cautioning against false information circulating in the media regarding the establishment of new medical colleges and the allocation of medical seats.

The National Medical Commission clarified that the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB), the responsible body under the NMC, has not approved any applications for new medical colleges or increases in undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) medical seats for the academic year 2024–25.

NMC Urges the Public to Rely on Official Sources
The notice highlights the prevalence of "fake news" in print and electronic media, where reports may contain misleading information in the headlines or unsubstantiated content. The NMC emphasizes that the only reliable source of information regarding medical colleges and seat allocation is the official NMC website.

Applications Still Under Review
While no approvals have been granted yet, the NMC has received a significant number of applications for the upcoming academic year. These applications, including 112 for establishing new medical colleges and 58 for increasing existing MBBS seats, are currently under review.

The National Medical Commission urges all stakeholders, including students and the general public, to be wary of misleading information and rely solely on official NMC announcements for accurate updates on medical colleges and seat availability.
