What's new at BIT Mesra?
Applications are invited from BC-I / BC-II candidates of Jharkhand State to fill reserved seats in BTech, BArch, and Integrated MSc courses and the last date to apply is Oct 10. A few more updates are given below:
- GATE 2023 applications will start on Aug 31 and will go on till September 30. The exam will take place between Feb 4 and Feb 12.
- Bachelor of Hotel Management & Catering Technology Program for the Academic Session 2022-23 - Round 3 of admissions has started. The last date to submit the application is Oct 25.
BIT Mesra Application Process 2023
For taking admission to the courses offered at BIT Mesra, candidates need to visit the official website of respective national-level entrance exam conducting bodies and fill out the application form in online mode. For other courses like PhD, MSc, etc. please follow the steps given below to fill out the BIT Mesra application form:
- Step 1: Visit the official website of BIT Mesra.
- Step 2: Click on the course, you wish to apply.
- Step 3: Register with a valid email ID.
- Step 4: Fill out the application form and upload the documents.
- Step 5: Make the payment online
- Step 6: Submit the application form, and download it for future reference.
List of documents to be submitted with the application form:
- Scanned copies of coloured photographs & signature
- Scanned copies of birth certificate
- Scanned copies of passing certificate and qualifying mark sheet
- Scanned copies of entrance examination scorecard
- Caste certificate, Category certificate (if applicable)

BIT Mesra Cutoff 2023 (Expected)
BIT Mesra cutoff for the BTech program has not been released yet. As per the JoSSA 2022 cutoff, CSE admissions at closed at 11521 JEE Main rank (General category). The admissions for the BTech CSE opened at 409 All India General Category rank.
About BIT Mesra
​BIT Mesra is a deemed university approved by PCI, AICTE, UGC, and NBA. The institute is placed at 53 by the NIRF in the Engineering category for the year 2022. BIT Mesra is India’s first institute to establish the space engineering and rocketry department. The institute offers 94+ courses through 18 departments. BIT Mesra’s academic programs include 4 UG, 7 PG, and Ph.D. degrees. Admission to all the programs is based on national-level entrance exams such as JEE Main, GATE, GPAT, NEET-UG, CAT, JAM, etc. B.Tech is the most popular program at BIT Mesra. Selection to the program is done via JEE Main entrance scores. Candidates with a JEE score between 409-57088 are eligible for admission at BIT Mesra. For MBA admissions 2022, a CAT score of 40 and above is desirable.
Furthermore, BIT Mesra has established many centers in India and abroad. Besides the main campus in Mesra, BIT has extension centers located in Allahabad, Deoghar, Patna, Jaipur, Noida, Kolkata, and Lalpur. Overseas extensions are situated in Muscat and Ras al-Khaimah. Additionally, the institute in association with the Govt of Jharkhand has also established the University Polytechnic. To impart diploma-level technical education, the University Polytechnic houses around 750 students. It has 20 full-time faculty and an equal number of visiting faculty from BIT Mesra.
Another feather in BIT Mesra’s cap is its placements. Being India’s top-ranked technical institute, BIT Mesra provides impressive job opportunities to its graduates. As of the latest placement reports, BIT Mesra has recorded 800+ job offers. The highest CTC offered was INR 49.76 LPA. Whereas, the average CTC was recorded up to INR 11.76 LPA. Companies like Amdocs, Infosys, Microsoft India Development Corporation, Cognizant, and Capgemini were the top recruiters at BIT Mesra.

- Collaborations: BIT Mesra has established its relations, tie-ups, ventures, and collaborations with several international universities in foreign countries such as the USA, UK, Canada, France, Italy, Denmark, Netherlands, Spain, Pakistan, Taiwan, and China to promote student exchange programs and dual degrees in the field of engineering.
- Faculty: With a faculty team of more than 2000 iconic members, the institute is dedicated to providing quality education to its students. This includes in-house faculty, adjunct faculty, and visiting faculty. Also, around 90-95% of the faculty members are Ph.D. holders at BIT Mesra.
- Scholarships: The institute offers scholarships worth INR 2.25 crores under the GP Birla BIT Scholarship scheme. The scholarship will be awarded based on the student’s merits in the JEE exam. A 100% fee waiver can be exempted for the students with JEE rank up to 1000.
- Hostels: BIT Mesra is a completely residential institute. It offers spacious accommodation to its students in hostels. There are 11 boys hostels and 3 hostels for girls. All the hostels are equipped with common facilities such as dining halls, reading rooms, common rooms, entertainment rooms, and independent mess halls.
- Research: In 2021, the institute got sanctioned its 17 projects with an amount of over INR 3.60 crores. BIT Mesra is continuously working for the implementation of its research, innovation, and entrepreneurship programs. It also provides all the necessary research facilities to its students and research scholars.

What’s new at BIT Mesra placements 2022?
A total of 235 companies visited the campus and 1,257 offers were made during BIT Mesra placements 2022. Further, the highest and average package offered during BIT Mesra placements 2022 stood at INR 58.33 LPA and INR 13.01 LPA, respectively.

- In 2018 – 2019, 372 B. E. graduates of BIT Mesra got placed.
- Electronics and Communication Engineering students took the lead with 72 students bagging job offers, followed by Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering students at 63 and 51 respectively.
- The average package recorded was INR 10.64 LPA while the median package was INR 8 LPA.
- The highest package at INR 40.63 LPA offered to B. E. graduates was also the highest overall for the season.
- The biggest recruiters of engineering graduates during the season were: Amdocs, Infosys, PWC, Microsoft, Cognizant among others
