Candidates can apply through the University's online application portal. The application process starts in March every year and applications are open until the last week of April. The main objective of Pondicherry University Placement Cell is to encourage, motivate and prepare students for campus interviews. Merit Scholarship and Merit cum Means Scholarships are available to meritorious students of PG degree programmes, M.Sc / M.A five-year integrated programmes.

Merit Scholarship:

(i) The first three candidates who pass the P.G. entrance examination may be given Merit scholarship @ `2000, `1500 and `1000 p.l. from the first semester respectively. The subsidy is defined for the points (*) of the entrance exams.

(ii) A merit scholarship of 2000, 1500 and 1000 pm will be awarded to the first three candidates who obtained the highest grade point average (SGPA) in the previous semester during the following semesters.

Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship:

(MCM) 20% of students in each P.G. degree programs are eligible for the University's MCM Scholarship. The scholarship is based on the achievement of each semester (SGPA) as well as the income of the student's parents. Annual income of parents should not exceed ` 250,000 (Rupees 2,00,000 only).

Scholarship for M.Sc. Marine Biology & Disaster Management:

All selected candidates will get a scholarship of 1000/-p.m. to study these courses in Port Blair, Andamans.

Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single GirlChild:

All selected candidates will be awarded a scholarship of ` 12500/- p.m.

Scholarship for M.Tech Computational Biology:

UGC is offering Indira Gandhi Scholarship for unmarried girl pursuing PG program.

PG Merit Scholarship for University rank holders:

Holders of an undergraduate degree from any university who wish to pursue a master's degree can apply for this scholarship.

Government of Puducherry Fellowship / Scholarship Merit and Merit-cum-Means Scholarship:

Government of Puducherry provides U.T. Merit and merit scholarships for students. for various courses in the University of Pondicherry. Government of Puducherry is offering two scholarships @`3000/- per month for two Masters students to the residents/natives of Puducherry. Biotechnology program in the Department of Biotechnology.

Government of India- DBT Special Fund:

5000/p.m. scholarship to 23 students for admission in M.Sc Biotechnology program of Government of India.

Madanjeet Singh Group Scholarship:

Full Scholarships for 8 students per year for M.Tech (Green Energy Technology) and 16 students per year for M.A (South Asian Studies) from SAARC Member States covering living expenses (10,000 p.m.), free hostel accommodation campus and tuition fee.

Ministry of New and Renewable Energy(MNRE):

Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has selected CGET as a nodal center and will award 15 M.Tech Fellowship and 5 Ph.D Fellowship to the successful GATE/CSIR qualified candidate.

GATE Scholarship:

UGC provide scholarship for the GATE qualified M.Tech students.

The students are eligible for only one Scholarship.

Pondicherry University provides separate accommodations for girls and boys with all the necessary facilities like a mess food facility, security, regular water and electricity supply, etc. PU campus has 22 hostels which include 14 hostels for Boys, 7 hostels for Girls, and 1 hostel for Foreign Students.

No room rent is charged by Pondicherry University from girl students and SC/ ST boy students (copy of community certificate duly attested by a Gazetted Officer is to be produced). Rent free accommodation to differently-abled students.
