Nirmalagiri College, a minority institution in the Archdiocese of Thalassery, was founded on May 13, 1964 by H.E. Mar Sebastian Valloppilly, the first Bishop of the Diocese of Thalassery. The college is located at Nirmalagiri near Kuthuparamba, 20 km northeast of Thalassery, adjacent to the Thalassery – Mysore Interstate Highway and 15 km from Kannur International Airport. The founding of the College was in accordance with the vision and purposes set forth in the Charter of Incorporation of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Tellicherry, registered as S. No. 12 of 1954 dated 4/11/54, under the Companies Registration Act (Act XXI of 1860). . .

The Archdiocese of Thalassery succeeded in establishing a variety of educational and charitable institutions in Malabar for the benefit of society. There are 23 LP schools, 30 UP schools, 24 high schools, 14 high schools, and one engineering college under the diocese.

There has been significant migration from Travancore to Malabar since 1940 and the post-World War II economic scenario has accelerated the exodus. The new community of migrants, mostly Christians, spread throughout the region of South and North Malabar, despite being pioneers of an agricultural revolution, has been deprived of basic and higher education facilities.

Even in the midst of blood, sweat and tears, the migrant population yearned for educational institutions. It was at that historic moment that Mar Sebastian Valloppilly, a dynamic missionary and motivated visionary, a true Gandhian and patriot, courageously stepped forward to found the College.

The main purpose of Nirmalagiri College, a lamp lit on the mountain, was to radiate the light of knowledge and wisdom. When the college was established, it was the only Christian higher education center in the whole of North Malabar, spread across Kannur, Kasaragod and Wayanad districts. Nirmalagiri, the nostalgia of thousands of its aluminum, has several unique characteristics.

The name 'Nirmalagiri' which literally means Immaculate Hill is home to some of the best educational institutions in Kerala known by the same name. It is administered by the Reverend Fathers of the Archdiocese of Thalassery of the Roman Catholic Church. The characteristic calling of a Catholic – “Go and learn” – is embodied in every “little particle” of this college.

This boarding school stands head and shoulders above the others as a successful monument of the Syro-Catholics of Malabar who were farmers and farmers. They had migrated from a rich land, south of their present land, to a wild land. This drastically changed land is now the favorite place of the masses. Our boarding school, located on the "Hill of the Immaculate Conception", is a blessing of nature. It is one of the cleanest campuses in Kerala with plenty of fresh air and clean water which are essential for any educational institution.

Thanks to our large campus, we have huge development opportunities, which is an ongoing process. Rail, road and air connectivity is another major advantage of Nirmalagiri. A railway station is only 20 km away from our establishment. The college is on the side of the Thalassery-Coorg highway and has a bus service outside the door almost 24 hours a day. The proposed Mattanur Airport would be 20km from our campus. Connectivity makes our campus unique and makes it a center for higher education and research. Finally, our campus is under the constant vigilance of "Our Lady of Nirmalagiri", divine blessing and inspiration for all staff and students to achieve excellence.
