About
Cochin University of Science and Technology is a state university established in 1971 by the Kerala State Government. The university is approved by UGC. The Faculty of Science and Technology was established in 1979 at the Kochi campus. The Faculty of Engineering is also a research center for many agencies like DRDO, ISRO, AICTE and UGC. It is the first university in India to introduce Information Technology in B.Tech courses. The college is one of the few institutions that offer Fire and Safety Engineering in B.Tech programs. It has a law school offering full-time law courses at UG, PG and PhD levels.
Campus
The university has three campuses; two in Kochi and one in Alappuzha in the same state (Kerala). The main campus is located at Thrikkakara, 1.5 km from NH 47. The main campus is located on 180 acres of land at South Kalassery in the Ernakulam district of Kerala. The College of Engineering and Law is located on the university's main campus. Another campus (Lakeside Campus) called the Urban Campus is located 12 km away from the main campus in Cochin City. The third campus (Pulincunnoon campus) is located 65 km from the main campus in Alappuzha, Kerala.
