IISc Bangalore Highlights 2023

Indian Institute of Science was established in 1909 by the Government of India. IISC is located in Bangalore and is recognised by the UGC. Moreover, IISC Bangalore is a member of the AIU and accredited by the NAAC "A" Grade. IISC Bangalore has been ranked 1 and 2 by the NIRF 2022 Rankings under the 'University' and 'Overall' categories, respectively. Further, IISC is ranked 2 by NIRF 2021 under the Overall category. IISC Bangalore has 45 academic departments spread across six divisions that offers over 738 UG and PG IISc Bangalore courses, including BSc (Research), BTech, MTech, MDes, M Mgt, and PhD. IISc Bangalore is known for the research courses and has been ranked at 155th position in QS world rankings. Most Popular course is Bachelor of Science (Research). Admission will be based on JEE advanced, JEE Main NEET and KVPY scores. Institute conducts its own counselling. Institute also offers M.Tech, M.Sc (Research), M.Des and MMS at the PG level.

Currently, the institute has 6 academic divisions and 45 academic departments. Apart from that, the college has around 13 departments under the director and 6 autonomous societies/centers. IISc Bangalore has an active placement cell that annually conducts recruitment drives for eligible meritorious students. During IISc Bangalore Placements 2022, the highest salary stood at INR 60 LPA. Students received a median salary of INR 23 LPA. Some of the top recruiters include Oracle, Toshiba, HSBC, Cisco, Dell etc.

  • IISc Bangalore PG Admissions 2023 to various courses is ongoing now. IISc Bangalore is inviting applications for admission to PhD/ MTech (Research) Programs, M.Tech, M.Des, M Mgt, M.Sc (Life Sciences), M.Sc (Chemical Sciences), Integrated PhD. The last date to apply for the admission is March 23, 2023.
  • IISc M.Tech/ Ph.D: GATE 2023 Registration process is over now, the entrance exam will be conducted between February 4 and February 12, 2023.

IISc Bangalore is one of the top-ranked institutes of higher education and research in India. What’s new at IISC Bangalore?

CEED 2023 results have been declared online by IIT Bombay on Mar 7, 2023. Candidates who appeared for the examination can login using their email id and password to check the result on the official website at Also, the scorecards can be downloaded from the portal from Mar 11, 2023 onwards. JEE Main registration 2023 for session 2 is now open. The last date to apply for the JEE Main session 2 is Mar 14 and the second session will be held between Apr 6 and Apr 12, 2023, except Apr 7 & 9.

Admission 2023:

The admission process for the academic year 2023-24 at IISc Bangalore is expected to begin in the month of March/April 2023. The admission process for undergraduate programs is based on the performance in the JEE Advanced examination, while for postgraduate programs, it is based on the performance in the GATE or JAM examination. The admission process for the research programs (PhD and Integrated PhD) includes a written test and an interview.

IISc Bangalore has a dedicated placement cell that helps students to secure job offers from top companies in India and abroad. The placement statistics for the year 2021 indicate that the average salary offered to students of the M.Tech program was around Rs. 14 lakhs per annum, while the average salary offered to PhD students was around Rs. 17 lakhs per annum. Some of the top recruiters at IISc Bangalore include Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Intel, Tata, and Infosys.

What's new regarding IISc Bangalore placements 2022?

As per the official website, the IISc Bangalore highest package offered during 2022 placements was INR 60 LPA and the median package stood at INR 23 LPA. The complete statistics are yet to be released.

Alongside, the NIRF report 2022 is released, according to which a total of six UG and 270 PG students were placed during 2021 placements. The median package offered to UG (4 years) students was INR 13.50 LPA and for PG programmes, it ranged from INR 20 LPA to INR 21.69 LPA. Further, the highest stipend offered during IISc Bangalore internships 2021-22 was INR 1.15 lakh per month.

Additionally, the highest and average package offered to Indian Institute of Science Bangalore MMS students were INR 39.5 LPA and INR 26.8 LPA, respectively.
